Workshop with Prof Dr James L. Hoot

A workshop about Early Childhood Education will be held on 18th January to 9th February 2012.

The workshop is organised by NCDRC with Prof Dr James Lee Hoot as the speaker.

Prof Dr James L. Hoot is currently the President of Association for Childhood Education International
and also the Director of Early Childhood Research Center at State University of New York at Buffalo.

Prof Dr Hoot had graduated magna cum laude (Psychology) from St. Francis College (1972), received his M.Ed. from Virginia State College (1975) and Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Illinois (1978). Prof Dr. Hoot has had extensive teaching experience through his work with the Virginia Teacher Corps and teaching in public and private elementary schools and universities. Over the past decade he has made over 350 presentations to professional organizations in the former Soviet Union, China, Estonia, Israel, Finland, Hungary, Germany, Canada, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the U.S. He has also contributed over 80 articles in the fields of early childhood education, educational gerontology, and computer science.

He is author of Computers in Early Childhood Education: Issues and Practices (Prentice-Hall, 1986), Senior Editor of Writing with Computers in the Early Grades (Teachers College Press, 1988), Guest Editor of the 1989 theme issue of Childhood Education (Vol. 65, No.5) which focused upon "Recent Reforms in the Preparation of Teachers of Young Children Throughout the World, Senior Editor of the 1994 Theme Issue of Childhood Education,"Creating Safer Environments for Children in the Home, School, and Community." He is also Editor of the first International Focus Issue of Childhood Education (1996) "Sharing the Best the World Has to Offer for Children," and the Co-Editor of the 1997 International Focus Issue entitled "Educating Children Through the Arts." Prof Dr. Hoot was also the Guest Editor of the 1996 Theme Issue of the Journal of Early Childhood Teacher Education, "World Perspectives on Early Childhood Teacher Education." He is currently President of the Association for Childhood Education International and at the State University of New York at Buffalo he directs the Early Childhood Research Center and coordinates the graduate program in Early Childhood Education.

Lawatan ke Taska UPM & Tadika Seri Soka

Rombongan NCDRC telah mengadakan satu lawatan kerja ke Taska UPM, Serdang dan Tadika Seri Soka, Cheras.

Lawatan ini telah diadakan pada 4 Julai 2011.

Rombongan ini disertai oleh Pengarah dan kakitangan NCDRC serta guru Taska PERMATA UPSI

Lawatan Kerja ke Singapura

NCDRC telah mengadakan satu lawatan kerja ke Singapura.

Lawatan ini diadakan pada 4-6 September 2011.

Lawatan ini diketuai oleh TNCPI, Pengarah NCDRC, Timbalan Pengarah NCDRC, Arkitek Kanan, Penolong Pendaftar Kanan dan Pengurus Taska.

NCDRC telah melawat Cherie Hearts* Head Office, Cherie Hearts Center Tanjong Pagar dan Cherie Haeart Center (Ay Mo Kio North Star).

NCDRC juga membuat lawatan ke ALkem Company Singapore dan Nurture Craft Pte Ltd bagi mencari bahan-bahan pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang bersesuaian untuk ditempatkan di Kompleks NCDRC yang dijangka siapa pada tahun 2012.

Selain itu, NCDRC juga telah melawat ke Modern Montessori International (MMI), dimana pusat yang turut mendapat beberapa pengiktirafan di peringkat antarabangsa dari kaedah Montessori.

Objektif lawatan :-

1. Bertukar-tukar idea, pengalaman, dan pegetahuan dalam bidang Pendidikan Awal Kanak-kanak dari segi aspek penjagaan, pengajaran dan pembelajaran, pentadbiran & kewangan serta pengurusan penyelenggaraan dan pengurusan fasiliti dan aset.

2. Perancangan awal bagi mewujudkan pengajaran & pembelajaran yang inovatif bersama-sama persekitaran dan fasiliti yang baru di Proton City.

3. Lawatan ini juga bertujuan membawa kakitangan pusat ini mengenali dunia luar selain UPSI disamping mencari ilham baru untuk membangunkan NCDRC sebagai sebuah pusat perkembangan awal kanak-kanak yang bertaraf dunia.

4. Memberi pendedahan kepada kakitangan tentang teknologi dan penciptaan terbaru dan terkini agar dapat membantu membangunkan proses pengajaran & pembelejaran serta sistem prasarana NCDRC seiring dengan pembangunan negara.

5. NCDRC juga akan turut melawat dan mencari bahan-bahan pengajaran & pembelajaran yang bersesuaian untuk ditempatkan di Kompleks NCDRC pada tahun 2012.


*Cherie Hearts Group International telah memenangi beberapa anugerah bagi pusat penjagaan yang menekankan tentang pendidikan awal kanak-kanak yang inovatif. Pusat ini terdapat di Singapura, China, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand & Malaysia

PBL Workshop with Prof Dr Anette Kolmos

A workshop about Problem Based Learning will be held on 18th April and 20th April 2012.

The workshop is organised by i-PBL Team UPSI with Prof Dr Anette Kolmos as the speaker.

Prof Dr Anette Kolmos is a Professor in Engineering Education and PBL and Chairholder for UNESCO Chair in Problem Based Learning in Engineering Education, Aalborg University. Dr. Kolmos has a PhD in "Gender, Technology and Education" (1989).  During the last 20 years, she has conducted research in the following areas, Change to PBL curriculum, development of transferable skills and faculty development. She is actively involved in developing profile of Engineering Education Research in Europe as well as internationally. She holds the Chair of SEFI working group on Engineering Education Research and she is President-Elect for SEFI 2008-2009. Dr. Kolmos is associate editor for European Journal of Engineering Education, SEFI and has served as associate editor for Journal of Engineering Education. She has published more than 140 articles in various journals. She is coordinator for the EU-project, Socrates project, PBL-Engineering which is developing the master programme: Problem Based Learning in Engineering and Science.

 

The objectives of this workshop are:

i.  to provide a paltform for discussion among lecturers and the expert about conducting

PBL in teaching and learning.

ii. to enchace the i-PBL Team UPSI, lecturers, non-academic staffs and post graduate

students through a Public Workshop and Workdhop for PBL Experienced Staff.
