Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Early Childhood Education at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) is a research-intensive program aimed at producing scholars and experts who can contribute significantly to the advancement of early childhood education theory, policy, and practice. The program is open to applicants with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related fields (CGPA 2.75 and above), as well as those with relevant academic qualifications, diplomas, or a minimum of five years’ teaching experience in the field. International candidates must demonstrate English proficiency through TOEFL (550), IELTS (6.0), or an equivalent qualification.

 

This doctoral program emphasizes independent, original research that addresses critical issues in early childhood education at local, national, and global levels. Candidates will explore advanced topics such as curriculum innovation, child development theories, educational leadership, inclusive education, and assessment in early learning contexts. Supported by experienced supervisors, students will engage in rigorous academic inquiry, contribute to scholarly publications, and present their work at conferences, thereby developing the capacity to influence educational policies and practices.

 

Graduates of this program will emerge as leaders in academia, research institutions, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations. They will possess the expertise to shape curriculum standards, influence educational reforms, and advance best practices in early childhood education. With a strong focus on scholarly excellence, critical thinking, and research ethics, the Doctor of Philosophy in Early Childhood Education at UPSI prepares graduates to drive meaningful change and contribute to the lifelong learning and well-being of young children.
