The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development of Children & Adolescents at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) is designed to develop scholars and researchers who can advance knowledge and practices in the holistic development of children and adolescents. The program is open to applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related fields (minimum CGPA 2.75), as well as those with relevant minors, diplomas, or a minimum of five years’ teaching experience in the field. International candidates must meet English proficiency requirements through TOEFL (550), IELTS (6.0), or an equivalent qualification.
This research-based program emphasizes independent scholarly inquiry into developmental, educational, social, and emotional aspects of childhood and adolescence. Candidates will have the opportunity to explore advanced topics such as developmental psychology, youth empowerment, learning environments, family and community engagement, and policy development. Guided by experienced supervisors, students will produce original research, contribute to academic publications, and participate in conferences, enabling them to address pressing issues affecting children and youth in diverse cultural and social contexts.
Graduates of this program will be equipped to take on leadership roles in academia, research institutions, governmental bodies, and organizations dedicated to the welfare and development of young people. With a strong foundation in evidence-based research and policy analysis, they will be prepared to shape educational frameworks, influence social development programs, and contribute to global discussions on child and youth well-being. The Doctor of Philosophy in Development of Children & Adolescents at UPSI prepares graduates to be thought leaders and change-makers in improving the lives of younger generations.
